Reagan hosted its annual Hall of Fame introductions in late October with this year’s inductees consisting of Andrew Craft, Jake Easter, Tammy Darden, Tanner Poindexter and Howard West. 

The Hall of Fame is a banquet to honor those who have served and improved various programs at Reagan. This year’s introduction banquet was held at Reagan on Oct. 22, 2021, with inductees introduced at halftime of the football game that night.

Inductee Andrew Craft

Former staff member Andrew Craft was nominated by Robert Johnston for growing the music program and showcasing the student musicians opportunities. Highlighted accomplishments include: 

  • Earned over 30 Superior Ratings at NC Music Educators Music Performance
  • Had the highest number of students selected for All-County Band and All-District Band with multiple students chosen for the extremely selective All-National Band and All-National Orchestra
  • Voted WS/FSC Band Director of the Year in 2013
  • Served as the President for the Northwest District of the North Carolina Bandmasters Associations
  • Voted Reagan’s Teacher of the Year in 2014
Inductee Tammy Darden

Former volunteer Tammy Darden was nominated by Melissa Maltba for her service in multiple roles for Meadowlark Elementary and Middle Schools and Reagan for nearly two decades. Highlighted accomplishments include:

  • Worked with the PTAs of Meadowlark Elementary and Middle Schools and Reagan 
  • Served in many leadership roles and numerous officer positions including Vice President and President
  • In 2018, launched a program to serve monthly meals to teachers and staff at a Title 1 school
  • Served as a parent representative on committees covering the entire WS/FCS, speaking up for the interest of all students.
Inductee Jake Easter

Inductee Jake Easter was nominated by football coach Josh McGee for receiving several honors and acquiring extraordinary statistics during his senior year. Highlighted accomplishments include: 

  • Named 2013 CPC Offensive Player of the Year 
  • Was an All-CPC Football Selection in 2013 and 2014 and All-CPC player for baseball
  • Named Winston-Salem Journal’s All-Northwest team in 2013 and 2014
  • Received a full scholarship at Appalachian State University

 

Inductee Tanner Poindexter

Former student Tanner Poindexter was nominated by football coach Josh McGee for his achievements as the most efficient offensive lineman in program history, as well as for his dedication and excellence both on and off the field. Highlighted accomplishments include:

  • Was an All-CPC Football Selection in 2011 and 2012
  • 1st Team Selection for All-Forsyth County Team 
  • Named Winston-Salem Journal’s All-Northwest team in 2012 and named top 44 players in NC
  • Earned Academic All-Conference honors in 2016 and 2017

    Inductee Howard West

Former staff member Howard West was nominated by Jeff Overby for his  accomplishments while serving as the school’s first athletic director and coach for the men’s varsity basketball team. Highlighted accomplishments include:

  • Winning Reagan’s first Wells Fargo Cup ins 2008 and again in 2009
  • Selected to coach the NCCA East/West All-Star Game in 2009
  • Named CPC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011
  • Ending his coaching tenure with a 130-81 record and averaging 20.3 wins a year 

The banquet was attended by the family and friends of the inductees and the Hall of Fame committee members, which include Lori Blackman, Tricia Blankenbaker, Amber Bryant, Susan Buchanan, Katie Grubbs and Brad Royal.

The Hall of Fame was provided with musical entertainment by the Reagan Honors String Quartet, dinner was provided by Legends Catering and served by the Reagan FACS students.
