Winter Sports Preview

As the fall sports season is coming to an end, the winter sports season is just starting out. Wrestling, basketball, indoor track, and swimming started up their seasons these past couple of weeks and all are striving for success.

 

Wrestling

 

Head Coach: Dwight Shelton

Goals: “Qualify for the State Duals as a team,” Shelton said

Captains/Impact Athletes: Alonso Rodriguez, Rece Rader, Corbin Jude

Big Matches This Year: Forsyth Country Day on Dec. 3 and West Stokes on Dec. 11

 

Men’s Basketball

 

Last Season Finish: 9-14 (2-8 Conference)

Head Coach: Jeff Overby

Goals: “Compete to win each time out,” Overby said. “We want to learn from our mistakes, grow and improve each day.”

Captains/Impact Athletes: Jared Gray, James Clyburn, Sean Coles, Happle Randolph

Big Games This Year: “Any and every game,” Overby said. “This team needs your support.”

 

Women’s Basketball

 

Last Season Finish: 14-11 (4-6 Conference)

Head Coach: Eric Rader

Goals: “The team goal this year is to be the best we can be since a lot of talent has left Reagan,” said Niya Grant, senior team captain. “We are trying to make the best of our fresh, new faces.”

Men’s Swimming

 

Last Season Finish: Conference Champions, 8th place finish at States

Head Coach: Ryan Michel

Goals: “Stay competitive in the conference and win another Conference Championship,” said senior team captain, Harrison Copeland.

Women’s Swimming

 

Last Season Finish: Conference Champions, 23rd place finish at States

Head Coach: Ryan Michel

Goals: “Maintain a close bond and win another Conference Championship,” said senior team captain, Graylyn Wolffis.

Goals: “Qualify as many people for the state championship as possible,” said Fritz
