Youtube delights, entertains America’s youth

Youtube has been entertaining youth since 2005. Now, it has evolved into a much larger platform for influencer sharing.

As human beings, we love to be entertained.  This is especially true in today’s day and age.  Each day, new and improved technology seems to be released, which catalyzes our needs to stay entertained.

Movies, music, videos, social media.  All of these things are used by youth all across the country.  One of the better sites used is Youtube.

Youtube is nothing new to teenagers these days, but it has evolved into something completely different than what it was when we were kids.

As children, Youtube was reserved for music videos.  As we have grown older, the versatile website and app offers much more.

Today, youths can use this site for schoolwork.  The amount of educational videos is overwhelming.

However, Youtube has evolved into a platform for individuals that call themselves “influencers”.  These influencers become so famous and wealthy essentially because they run around the streets of L.A. and do stupid things.  And we love it.

One of the most infamous Youtube influencers is David Dobrik.  He can make thousands of dollars just by running around with his friends and acting absolutely insane.  In one of his vlogs, he followed his older friend to Hawaii and tracked down where exactly he was staying.  Dobrik went through all of this just to shoot his friend with a paintball gun.

These types of videos get an immense number of views, and the creators get paid an immense amount of money.  There are even conventions for these people held annually–the most famous being VidCon in Anaheim, Calif.

Why are these people so rich and famous?  That’s an easy question to answer. We, as teenagers, love a quick laugh.  Whether watching Dobrik’s 4:20 sec. vlogs or Cody Ko’s 15 min. “THAT’S CRINGE” videos, laughter is a guarantee.

Many teenagers can relate to some influencers.  Others love hearing the stories of other people’s crazy lives, like Tana Mongeau.

My personal favorite type of content are commentary videos, like those of Cody Ko or Drew Gooden.  These types of videos really make me laugh because they are just saying what everyone is thinking when it comes to stupid videos on the internet–but they say it better.  Everyone sees cringey videos on the internet or social media and watching your favorite commentators pick them a part is just funny.

Youtube offers a lot, but the comedy value of this site is priceless.  Many youths are simply too stressed and some of these videos are excellent for a quick giggle.
