A Bittersweet Ending to ‘Avengers: Endgame’
May 3, 2019
The story that has captivated fans for seven years has come to an end. “Avengers: Endgame” is the final installment of Marvel’s extremely successful Avengers franchise.
After “Avengers: Infinity War” ended with a dramatic cliffhanger, everyone knew it would be up to the remaining Avengers to save the world. However, what no one expected was how well executed the film would be.
Since the first Avengers movie, many new characters and heroes have been introduced, but this movie focuses on the original Avengers like The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.)
This allows the audience to really appreciate their individual stories and makes the ending even more bittersweet.
In the movie, there are many small odes to the past eleven years of Marvel movies that true fans around the world can recognize, many coming from one of the franchise’s first movies “Iron Man.” These moments are short, but they are one thing that makes this final movie so special and sentimental.
Staying true to their genre, directors Joe and Anthony Russo include epic fighting scenes in the team’s last battle together. Every battle scene is carefully choreographed to give the best viewing experience, but also to give every second meaning.
While the choreography sets and costumes are an important element to the cinematic experience, the actors are what makes this movie so enchanting. These amazing actors have spent years perfecting their characters, and it is obvious that they are very invested in their relationships and outcomes.
The acting is phenomenal, whether it is emotional, dramatic or action-packed. The cast has the audience’s attention from the opening scene to the end credits, leaving no room for breaks during the three hour movie.
The importance of being a team has always been an important theme in the Avengers movies, and “Avengers: Endgame” exemplifies that. Although some Avengers have had their differences, like in “Captain America: Civil War,” this movie’s ending shows that no matter what happens they are a team and they love each other.
This movie is the end of an era for the Avengers, which can be very hard for viewers, but the wonderful way it was brought together for a satisfying ending made it totally worth the wait and goodbye.
