Raiders Respond: What does your senior quote mean to you?

“quote for stephyk.” by @aerial_m is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 Every year seniors have to pick a quote to go underneath their picture in the yearbook. These quotes can be funny, inspirational, motivational, or even a time-stamp from a TV show. Some seniors put great thought and consideration into their quotes while others pick one in less than two minutes. Regardless of how eloquent or silly the quote is, it was picked for a reason and means something to the person that chose it.

“Make my messes matter, make this chaos count.” This quote came from “Jupiter” by Sleeping At Last.

“I chose this quote because life is just chaotic,” said senior Cassie Daukas. “And everything you do can either be extremely easy and cool and awesome or just bad and messy. Life is messy and chaotic so you gotta make it count.”

“I don’t want you to be a backpack person.” This quote was by Nayeka Uitenham, senior Bre-Anna Leung’s mother.

“She was telling me how she wanted to be stable and not move around like a couple she saw on TV.” Leung said.

“You cannot live your life to please others. The choice must be yours.” This was said by the White Queen from “Alice In Wonderland.”

“I chose this quote specifically because I feel like it directly relates to my personality and what I have been taught my whole life,” said senior Emma Rose Olsen. “Many people live their lives to please other people and do not consider themselves. But my parents have always taught me to choose who to please and if it is worth it or not. This quote is something that I will live by for the rest of my life.”

“It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.” This quote was said by Dwayne Johnson.

“I chose this quote because I think it really explains how much a little thing like being nice can impact people,” said Charlotte Turner. “It is always nice to be wanted and appreciated by people, but it is more meaningful to be nice to others and show them how much they mean to you. I also really like The Rock because he is a great, kind, and humble role model for others to look up to.”

“The noblest art is that of making others happy.” This quote was by P.T. Barnum, an American showman.

“I chose this quote because my whole life I have strived to make those around me happy and emphasize the joy that surrounds them every day, and will continue to do so forever,” said senior Leah Boone. “I believe making an effort to bring happiness to the world is extremely important, especially during times that seem darker than others. Also, ‘The Greatest Showman’ is my all-time favorite movie, and this quote is pictured at the very end of the film!”

“We are the light against the darkness, and we must continue to burn brightly, so others may find their way out.” This quote was by author Claire LeGrand.

“This quote resonated with me because I think it’s very important to persevere obstacles not only for yourself but for others around you,” said Briana Deleon.
