90s fashion is the new comeback kid
Fashion from the '90s is back, whether you like it or not
In the 1990s, there were many fashion trends that most people reveled in, but as time passed, the somewhat outlandish outfits faded away.
Well, do not fret, because 90s fashion is back.
The revived styles are based on the 90s original items, but they have had a makeover to fully embrace the current fashion trends. Although the trends are not quite the same as they were in the 90s, they are still very prevalent.
Walking throughout the school, you can spot the many high-top Converse and oversized shirts that flood the hallways. Around every corner you can spot five,10, maybe 15 scrunchies either as bracelets or hair bows.
It has been 20 years, but the resurgence is now in full swing and many are welcoming it with open arms.
“I like 90s style and how people are bringing it back,” said junior Kayla Spalding. “There are some that I really like, but there are some that I don’t think should make a comeback.”
Also, those who lived through the 90s are excited about the comeback.
“It feels strange because I remember poking fun at the trends throughout high school and college,” said Molly Harwell, a dance teacher. “But I am excited, also; bring on the scrunchies!”
There are many articles of clothing from the 90s that many would argue should never, ever see the light of day again, such as mullets, parachute pants, and platform thong sandals.
“ I like mullets to a certain extent if they are tamed,” said sophomore Hannah Large.
Large went on to say how she thought platform shoes should never make a comeback because she thought they looked weird with most clothing.
Although there were many infamous trends in the 90s, only a few will be making a comeback this year.
Some trends that are bouncing back include huge t-shirts, chokers, bodysuits, denim skirts, and fishnet stockings.
In classrooms, the mall, and pretty much anywhere you go, you are probably surrounded by trends of the 90s that have taken over in fashion world of today.
Many people are embracing the comeback of these trends and are very excited that the comeback has finally started.
Harwell’s favorite trends from the 90s were scrunchies, which are a type of hairbow, neon windbreakers, and jean mini skirts.
“ I like the oversized shirts and the scrunchies that people used to wear,” Large said. “ I also like the band t-shirts and other stuff like that from the 90s.”
Some people, like Spalding, prefer the more subtle trends that are coming back, such as mom jeans.
From the massive uproar that the 90s resurgence has caused, some predict that the trends will stick around for awhile.
“I really like the 90s style, so I hope it stays around,” Spalding said.
Whether you like the comeback of 90s trends or not, they are back and here to stay.
